Europe is the 'old continent' and with the exception of Asia is the source of culture for much of the world. Almost all the major towns and cities offer a fascinating history and a wide variety of ancient, world-famous monuments, which in some cases are even the symbol of an entire country.

Among the famous monuments to be found in Europe, we must not forget some monuments that are primarily in Spain, Italy, Greece, France or England, monuments that are a true reflection of a culture and civilization.

In Spain, for example, there are close to fifty monuments which have been listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, among them the Alhambra in Granada, the Mezquita, the Roman ruins in Merida, the Aqueduct of Segovia , the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid, the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and the Basilica del Pilar in Zaragoza.

If we go to France, we have of course the Eiffel Tower, monument par excellence and a defining image of the country. There is also the Notre Dame Cathedral, also in Paris. Other regions are also several monuments such as the cathedral of Bordeaux and the Cologne Cathedral in Germany.

The oldest monuments to be found in Europe are in Greece and Italy, with traces of ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, the Acropolis in the first case and the Coliseum of Rome, both without doubt among the most prominent monuments to be found on the European continent. We must also not forget to mention destinations such as Pisa and its leaning tower, Florence and the Duomo Cathedral and cities like Venice, which is a monument in itself.

In other countries, like England, are in their capital landmarks like Big Ben, the symbol of London, or more modern ones like the London Eye. The Diocletian Palace in Split, Croatia is another monumental landmark.
